I am away for 3 days with family over the Easter break, and I have only been apart from my horse for 10 hours so far and it is not going well! Already starting to feel a lump in my throat knowing I won't see him tomorrow.. I basically had to get my yard owner to tear me away from my stable door this morning haha! And I've already texted her three times to make sure A. Horse is still alive, B. He is not colicing/cast/dying of an incurable disease and C. Getting plenty of treats! Honestly, we do love our horses, don't we :P

I do the same with my dog too. When she was younger she would go to another part of the house to sleep and I wouldn't see her breathing (she snores like an elephant now) and panic that she had passed away somehow in her sleep cause I turned my back for a SECOND.

Holidays are a total stress fest if I'm apart from the animals haha I can't trust anyone to care for them right!

Hmmm, I have the "elastic band" syndrome.

I find it very hard to leave home, even to the point of tearing up, but when a good few miles away the elastic band snaps and I am good for the rest of the holiday.

Having said that, since having the horses at home, apart from a 3 night trip away, OH and I have different holidays, so the boys always have one of us at home!!!

I'm struggling with this at the moment. I came off my horse 4 weeks ago tomorrow. I spent 5 days in hospital and since I've been home - I've managed to get up the yard 4 or 5 times to see her.
She is being well looked after but not being up there twice a day, every day is just horrible.

I'm like this too!! We have only been away once together in the twelve years my OH and I have been together!! We went away on a Friday afternoon and by sunday morning we were missing the dog so much we came home! My friend was looking after my horse and I bombarded her with texts!! She was probably glad I came home! A relative has offered to pay for us to go away this year but I want to take the dogs as am so worried about them getting stolen ( irrational I know) but I know I won't be able to relax.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I'm ok to go away for the weekend as I know he will be very well looked after. If I can afford it I want to go back to the states next year as I haven't been on holiday their in about 2 years and used to go 2/3 times a year from age 18 - 23 (must have prepared me for horse ownership cause I used to save every penny to go on holiday haha) which I know will be harder and for the first time I will actually be happy to be home and my bags will be full of tack haha :D

god, I love being away from my lot for a bit-maybe 10years of them being at home will do this to you lol. I have a good friend who house sits and we try and get away for one week per year together.

When i leave mine (which is very rare) my friend who looks after them posts pictures of them on Instagram so i can relax (slightly)!!
