I've seen these advertised and wonder whether they're worth a try for my haflinger. He's got a short back and changes shape all the time so treed saddle fitting is a nightmare. Treeless looks worth a try but I'm confused by all the sizes and makes. I'm size 16 and currently use a 17inch saddle.

Although they're not dirt cheap like some I still feel they can't have good enough materials in them and my general advice is that treeless doesn't work for all, but that you do need a good quality one. There is another post on here somewhere today/yesterday with a list of recommended makes.

I fit Haffies with regular traditional saddles which can be adjusted a little - take a look here:

Hope the link works! You need a flat tree, flat panel and a point strap as a minimum to help with fitting these wide types. Some other makers have trees that might work for such a pony - Ideal H&C, GFS Haflinger might be worth looking at as well as our Native Pony brand. Obviously a 17" saddle is not really great for you, but many bench made saddle makers can extend the cantle giving you a bigger area to sit on without making the panel larger on the horse.
