Hi. Just started feeding my TB copra, so far, so good. Question is this; I make his breakfast up the night before, is it ok to put the copra in it?

Probably a daft question, just wanted to make sure it's not going to start fermenting or doing anything weird! :)

Cheers.

We used to make it up the night before for the following day to be sure it had soaked enough. Never had any fermentation problems - if we made too much it lasted 48 hours easily.

I treat the soaked Copra just like sugarbeet. If sugarbeet mixed into your breakfast feed the night before wouldn't 'turn' overnight, then your Copra should be fine too. Just try to keep the mixed feed in the coolest place you can overnight in summer. I've never had a problem with mine and in winter I make 2/3 days worth in one go which keeps fine in the cold feedroom.

It absorbs liquid so fast it really only needs a few minutes. The main worry I would have soaking for a long period of time is that it can contain fungal spores that may contaminate it with their toxins.
