My Shetland, who is now 23, and has had several bouts of laminitis in the past recently developed, very sore cracked heels on all four feet. We treated this with a combination of antibacterial cream and a natural wound powder. They have now healed up more or less but he has now developed an over growth of hoof around the coronary band which is now flaking away and is quite sore for him. We are treating this with the smae method. It seems to be some sort of bacterial infection. I just wondered if anyone else had had this problem and what they did? Thanks.

The farrier is due in a few days. But there has been an increase in the growth of hoof round the coronary band for some time and neither has said anything about this being a problem. But recent wet weather has softened the hoof wall and this peeling at the top has occured
