Coronet band

Hey!
My mare came in the other night lame with what looked like a cut above her coronet band, iv only turned her out for a few hours at a time to keep swelling down but the lameness has gone. The cut is still there but I'm unsure whether it is a cut now? It looks like a pink tube above her hoof that's squeezing out ? Any ideas?

It sounds like it could be an abscess exit hole. You could always have a word with your Vet to see if they want to come out and look at her as you aren't certain what it is.

My lad had the same, thought he's caught it on something, so used purple spray, turned out to be an abcess which took ages to heal, farrier ended up taking a chunk out of the front of his hoof, he's fine now though
