My gammy horse has managed to injure herself in her stable. I don't know what on but I came into her stable today to find dried blood from about an inch above her coronet band on the outside of her foot which had run down onto her hoof. It looks like it had bled a lot as the band was about 1/2" wide and about 1/2cm deep. I've cleaned it up and the only wound I can find is about 1/2cm long and really narrow and doesn't *seem* to be very deep, it's stopped bleeding now and she is totally sound. I'm guessing with the amount its bled that its fairly clean inside. The bizzare thing is that the blood seems to have run upwards from where the wound is. Dunno if she has laid down and stuck her leg in the air to stop the bleeding or what.
SO should I be very worried, just I've had people in the past tell me if it's anywhere near a joint it's potentially life threatening and similar slightly over the top stuff but with it being so small I'm torn as to whether to call the vet and get them out, call the vet and get them to send me some antibiotics or just leave it and keep an eye on it. Poulticing is not an option due to where it is.
Any advice appreciated guys

Sounds like she has cast herself in the stable do you do banks to stop her getting stuck.?
If she was cast her leg would be in the air so thats how the bleeding is going the wrong way up her leg.
I would keep it clean and watch for swelling and heat.If at all worried cold hose it as she might have bruised herself give her few days before you call vet out it sounds a minor cut .

No banks but I've got wooden walls and there are no marks I can see where she has laid aswell and its away from the walls. I think she has sharpened some hay and stabbed herself to get out of jumping lol.
