Just need some reassurance that we're not under-feeding. Rising 6 yrs IDx 17hh in very light work at mo. Normally out between 8 - 4 (sometimes restricted if very wet). On Allen & Paige Calm & Conditioning Nuts:

1 x Scoop (approx half kilo) nuts (soaked)
1 x Scoop Alfalfa
Carrots
Oil
Biotin
Fed twice a day

Plus Ad lib hay

Has done VERY little work over the winter as we don't have an all weather menage. He's maintained weight although lost a lot of muscle which will be addressed as weather improves.

Any advice very welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds very much the same as what my hyperactive, lean TB mare gets.

would say it's a good quantity of food and if he's holding his weight then fine, as you say the muscle will come back when you start proper work again.

Sounds plenty to me. My 17 h plus five year olds are in light work and get:

slug cod liver oil
1 scoop Alfa-A
1/2 scoop high fibre nuts
1/2 scoop speedibeet
1 measure Equivite

once a day

plus ad lib hay
