My son who is a member of HM Armed Forces has become a foot follower of our local pack and occasional mounted follower. Is it correct for him to dress in Army issue kit eg camoflague jacket and trousers [ buff jods when riding] or is this wrong and something like ratcatcher would be more appropriate?
Thankyou.

:) If he is off duty he can wear what he likes:) No need to stand out in rig unless he wants to, or it is a military pack, anyway, an awful lot of followers, terrier men etc I know dress in lightweights, cam jackets etc, half the time it felt like being in the middle of an exercise in Sennybridge with our lot.

I used to hunt with an RMC Saddle Club and they wore bog standard hunting kit.

When you are mounted though, neat, tidy and conservative is the order of the day really, most packs aren't that fussy as long as they are getting their cap.

AAAArgh ,now you have made me have flashbacks of Sennybridge!!!!!:eek::eek:

When members of our hunt are home on leave they wear normal hunting kit. I have seen members of the RAVC & RHA based at Melton on photographs hunting in their Number 2 jackets with issued khaki breeches and long boots teamed with a jockey skull and khaki cover.

Then also got chatting to the military teams at a local team chase and they were wearing their combat jackets with issued breeches and boots.

do not forget the most important thing , he must have written consent from his CO , it is of paramount importance , he will give the dresscode
