Hi

Quick and simple question.... what should children (ie under 16 and on ponies) wear? Mainly thinking long or short boots and hunt coat or tweed? Any thoughts appreciated as about to invest in new kit for daugther so might as well get it correct!!

Thanks for any insight into this minefield!

Tweed, with pony club tie and shirt if she's a member, or a simple tie and shirt if not. Mine started wearing a muted coloured stock with hunt shirt at around 12. She also had her body protector on over the top. Beige jods, either short boots with matching chaps (leather if you can stretch to it for protection of legs on gate posts etc), or long boots. Black or Blue velvet hat cover. She found that with the back protector she didn't need a heavyweight jacket as she overheated. Warm gloves. For over 16s you can go for a black / navy hunt coat with white / cream stock after the opening meet.

As long as they are smart, pony turned out well, and well mannered they can get away with most things tho! Hope that helps :)
