I've posted a few times before about my new hairy cob. I think the time has come for a trip out to a party, nothing too exciting I reckon a wander out to the local show and if we deal with that OK we'll venture into a few in hand classes. While I'm OK with turnout for him, as a hairy - scrubbed and clean flowing locks should do! - not sure what I should wear. Guessing tweed jacket, shirt and tie. However, not sure what trousers I should be wearing. Have read that because he has white legs ( he is a very white grey), I should wear dark trousers....is this right? And also, should I wear a hat, or is neat hair acceptable? And should I be carrying a show cane of any sort? And is there anything I have forgotten?! :o
Big glass of Saturday evening wine for getting this far! Thanks :D

It isn't stated in any rules and in fact doesn't look as good as,say, a trilby but a hard hat, at least until you know how he will behave at a show. There was a woman killed at a show not far from us a few years ago when her in-hand youngster reared and caught her head with its hoof.

Yep you should be wearing dark trousers and also a hat, most places i have been say you HAVE to wear a hat for inhand.
Also as said above a brown showcane and brown gloves would finish the look off nicely

Personally I would take a show cane in and yes I would definatly wear a hat, doesn't have to be a riding hat with a harness, could be a beagler or any other smart hat like a trilby!

Good Luck
xx

the dark trousers are correct, i use a showing cane and as i am under 16 i would have to wear a riding hat but you ont have to if you are a senior but i personally think it is best to wear a riding hat with strap or a begaler type one just in case the worst does happen
