My 6 year old has been mildly lame for a few weeks (rear fetlock), and on vets advice have just been casually hacking him once or twice a week recently and this has helped with the swelling and lameness alot when he was taken off bute for latest vet visit. Have just had xrays done after waiting to make sure arthritis is not present, and he has diagnosed a sprained horsey ankle basically. Suggested treatment is a one off injection into the joint of Cortisone to help with the swelling and healing. I just wanted to know what peoples experiences of this is, as I would currently rather this than keep him on bute for much longer.

He is a 6y/o ISH, not a competition horse by any means but we dont mind a bit of schooling and would love to eventually brave a little dressage or Le Trec comp. No history of Lami or any other medical issues etc.

Thanks :)
