Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone has any information on this product.
My 21 year old ex racer, ex eventer ex broodmare is struggling with her soundness, she's got various ailments due to her having a long heavy career and the fact shes a crappy flimsy tb! :P She has an old tendon injury and hock spavins along with very low pasterns which we're told by the vet will only get worse with age. She also has rubbish tb flat feet.
Shes been on 2 bute daily at the advice of the vet and is on joint supplements. She was lame this morning so have upped to three bute for the time being. We do this when she gets a little worse and adjust according to how she is. I have had the chat with mum who the mare really belongs to and she knows that this may well be our last summer with her. But we want to try everything to get her comfortable before we throw in the towel. SO..what else can we try? I dont want to keep upping the bute, i hate having her on it permanently as i know it can cause gastric ulcers and allsorts.
Someone i know a couple of years ago mentioned that a friend of hers had her horse on Cosequin for one reason or another and said it was fantastic. I wondered if anyone has any info or experience of using it?
All suggestions welcomed!

Hi, I've used cosequin on 2 previous horses of mine, one had OCD in his stifle joints & the other had psd in both hinds. The difference cosequin made was noteable. I would certainly consider trying, however vetvits also sell a product called Equiflex, which uses the same ingredients, but with slightly different quantities of the ingredients. Might also be worth a try at a fraction of the price.
