Vets talking about follow up treatment as my horse has diagonal lameness after spavin surgery( jan this year). She mentioned adequan but this is normally used as treatment to aid and repair the cartlidge that already been drilled out.I assume it also helps relieve pressure or repair ligaments tendons etc that the spavin surgery has caused.
If anyone has any info on this drug I would appreciate it thanks

You can do a search for it on google & bring up their website which has loads of info on it.
As for cost, at my vets it was £400

for 7 shots which are administered every 5 days, so a course lasts just over a month.
I know this, as my horse has been diagnosed with Bone Spavins and has just had the hock injections plus a course of Adaquan. He has his last injection (of the 7) on friday.
The difference in him has been amazing. I don't know if it's the hock injections, the adaquan or more likely the combination but he is moving fabulously & is a much happier horse. So much so that I'm planning his first dressage outing for 3 months

I think every horse is different. My vets said it would give him the best possible chance along with the hock injections. I've been told that his treatment could last some horse 6 months or up to 3 years. So it's now a case of working him as normal & if I feel he starting to feel uncomfitable again to take him back to be redone.
Sorry I can't be much more help as it's still very early days for us.

My cob had Adequan for ringbone in 2005 and *touches wood & whistles* has been ok since with no further injections

Our big horse had Adequan for coffin joint arthritis which helped for a couple of months and wore off- moved onto cartrophen and will try IRAP next

Other big horse also has ringbone and will be getting a course when the vet comes

Cost was £50 per injection done by my OH- each course was 5 injections.
