Hi, my 6yo ISH tried to jump out of his field 3 weeks ago and managed to get the fence caught round his near fore.

He has been on box rest ever since with a pressure bandage on his cut leg which seems to be healing as I would expect.

He had some swelling on the inside of is hock on his back leg which the vet thought was cellulitis so he had been on antibiotics twice a day and daily walk and icing. There is no real improvement so we have now tried a pressage bandage but no change now in 48 hours.

The vet suggested x-ray and ultrasound scan to get to the bottom of it. I'm claiming through my insurance (Petplan) but want to work out how much these scans will cost so I can work out if I need to start worrying about the limit my insurance will pay. I've never had to claim before so am probably worrying for nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?

He will be having the scans and any other treatment required no matter what – I just want to be sensible and start working out how much extra cash I may need to find!

Many thanks!

you should be well under you limit for these - I squeezed 2 stays at the vets an mri, bone scan and multiple x rays and ultrasounds for 4.7k - off the top of my head the x rays were about £50 a plate and the time in with the ultrasound was about £200 - hope all is well again soon

I can't remember exactly what the cost was for my mare, but you will be well under budget with just x rays and ultrasounds. I doubt it will even cost £500, so you should be fine!
