I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of cost for euthanasia, and options for removal. I realise every vets may be different but just a general idea please. Thanks in advance

I used a local man not a vet - it was £216 including disposal (no ashes returned or anything like that), he used a captive bolt & was fantastic (Gloucestershire)

There is a local man that hunts use, but anyone can phone him up. I don't think he would like to be called a knacker man, but he did a wonderful job when I had to have a pony pts. Four years ago it was under £200 for the whole thing. He gave me the options regarding disposal from cremation with ashes back, cremation with no ashes to go to the kennels.

Sorry if you are facing this.
We very recently paid £450 for out of hours vet and £600 for individual cremation (no ashes returned).

Don't worry about the removal options as the vet practice will arrange all that. They should give you options about individual removal (more expensive) or collection where there may be other animals in the collection vehicle (cheaper). But the vet practice will make necessary phone calls and all arrangements. Good luck x

Thank you all again i am trying to prepare as much as possible, i know when the time comes i will be in bits as he is my world. It has been a decision i have made in his best interest but it makes it no easier. I guess at least i am going to get the chance to say good bye properly, but everytime i look at him i feel so terribly guilty.

For vet PTS by injection, and local chap to collect came to about £500. If I had wanted ashes back it would have been a fair bit more. My vets told me who they use for collection, and in fact they arranged it all, including payment. I then had a bill from the vets through a few weeks later.

I t is about £200 for pts by vet and £200 disposal by hunt for cremation. So add Vat about £500 max unless you want ashes. That is in North Hampshire.

Mine was just over 200 for the vet and the same again for disposal. My YO organised the second bit and told me to leave for which I will be forever grateful.

I think we paid around £460 in total back in February. This was for an injection without sedation and then removal/cremation with no ashes back.
