Hi,

I'm looking to get my rising 2 year old cob gelded in the Autumn but was wondering how much this would usually cost? I'm in the Somerset area.

Thanx for your help

Ah that's not too bad, I was thinking it would be about £200 but wasn't sure. Was that in Somerset area? I also need to find a good vets to do it lol.

Mine was £220, done under local anaesthetic.

Unfortunately an infection appeared 5 days later so I needed to pay another £125 for call-out, an anti-biotic jab plus a 5-day course of a-b's (it was a Sunday of the Bank Hol weekend so couldn't wait - typical!)...so that's £345 in total!!!

Altogether mine was £220 including call out and sedation and antibiotics when he had to have a further snip because of some excess skin hanging down around the area, just as a precaution.

That is quite expensive around here though, its cheaper if you take them to the surgery to have it done.... or just get a couple of bricks :-D

Haha, I don't think Harry would like me very much if I went down the brick route... lol! But I'm glad to hear the costs aren't too bad, gives me plenty of time to make sure I'm ready for it kinda September time

I was asking the same thing earlier in the week. After speaking to my vet I reckon all in all, without complications its going to be 250 quid!

Garstons in Frome are doing my boy!

my friend has just had his 14.2hh 6year old stallion done at the yard sedatated local anastatic in the area and job done that cost £180!
