how much is gelding now i got two to do

I'm looking at £120 to do mine this month, but it depends on the vet and how they sedate etc. It can vary alot between vets so I would hunt around for recommendations, and of course everything seems alot cheaper up here!

Down here it was £240 (inc VAT), this was to do him standing up and including first tetanus, although I was quoted the same from another vets to do him lying down

We were quoted around £180 each for our three colts this autumn I think, this is in Yorkshire, but in the end we decided to run them on a little bit longer until they have had a show season under their belts.

When I wanted to have my rising 3 year old colt gelded I used the Yellow Pages and called around all the equine practices serving my area. The quotes varied greatly for technically the same method of gelding. I didn't select the cheapest (a vet I'd never used before, nor had had recommended) but I did go with one that was £110 cheaper than my normal equine practice, but who was also recommended as a good equine practice from people I trusted. Job was done well and I saved £110.

I'd shop around but ultimately, regardless of price, only choose a practice that is reputable and experience in equine work. Geldings can go wrong, so don't take any chances with your boys

would you be gelding at this time of year? i know its not good to do when its warmer... but its not getting above freezing at the moment. Also, what care does a newly gelded horse need?

i'm just starting to think about it, i will probably get them done in a few months time, the veterinary college says april time is good
