Cost of livery/hay/bedding etc

So, having never lived in the UK before I'm quite confused about the prices here- I've found a nice yard 20 min cycle away from uni and as I'm planning on buying a horse In September I've been looking at prices. The yard has quoted me the following:
DIY livery- 32 per week
Hay- 5.75 per bale
Straw- 3 per bale

Ps. my horse will be out in the fields during the day and inside in the afternoon

What do you guys think? Is this considered expensive? Also, I know it's hard to say how much it will cost as every horse is different/ a good doer/ not a good doer etc but How much do you think the hay and straw would cost me per month? (just a ballpark figure).

Then there are cost such as insurance (around 40 per month I assume??), shoeing, (about 60 every 6-8 weeks??) and hard feed- (I'm assuming 30 per month as I will only be doing light schoolwork/hacking out).

Where abouts in the UK? for the SE it seems ok but a bit dear for the NW
If you are only doing abit of hacking then I dont think you'll need much hard feed. I think you should allow £75 for shoes and the insurance costs depends on the horses value.
The horse will cost you about £250 to £300 a month remember to factor in routine vet stuff too.

In the West Midlands- Coventry I know, mostly people I know say they pay around 3-4 pounds per bale of hay and 2 pounds per straw bale. Thanks for the figures- I thought it would be around that price

Depends on the facilities too, nice stables, post & rail fencing, lockable tackrooms, indoor arenas etc cost more than a basic older stable on somewhere with no facilities that you have to provide your own electric fence. How much hay & straw, feed etc depends on the horse, if you know enough to own one you should be able to make a rough guess as to how many bales a week you need.

I'm in the NW and DIY livery varies from £15 for a grotty horrible yard to £35 for a more luxurious yard with good facilities.. I would expect £20-25 for an average yard. I pay £5/bale for hay (good hay, supplier never runs out and delivers next day, stacked in hayshed) and £3 for straw. Farrier is £65/horse. Insurance for two horses and trailer is about £70/month, but with low maximum vet bill and low value for horses!

Hi, the stable has very good facilities- two indoor arenas, 110 acres of hacking, a walker, loackable tackrooms etc!
I have owned two horses before in Belgium, but since the prices are different there I wanted to know what you guys pay- we didn't get bales at my previous yard but slices of hay on a day to day basis so I wasnt sure how many bales I would need (obviously it depends on the horse).
