cost of MRI scan?

Horse has lameness within his hoof most likely soft tissue damage he is on a further 2 weeks box rest but if no improvment he is having to go back to hospital for an MRI scan insurance states they will civer 50% of the costs but no idea how much they are?

I think mine was about £1300. Who are you insured with? I am with Petplan and they covered it all.

My horse had an MRI of both front feet (they do both to compare) at Leahurst earlier this year and it was was around £1100.. Hope that helps

Around £1k mine had one done at shelf equine Halifax , the insurance however paid all!

NFU should cover the whole cost, have you called them? Mine cost £1500 I think

Oh and I went to Halifax as well as leahurst sometimes re do nerve blocks etc and the costs add up. Halifax was really good and no stress

I was under the impression an MRI was between £1200- £1500 but enquired 3 weeks ago and was told it would cost me £500 as prices have dropped since they first became a common diagnostic tool. I'm not insured so was quite pleased.

I had my horse booked in last year for hoof MRI (thankfully cancelled at last minute as abscess burst!). I was quoted about £1100 for both front feet at Leahurst. We found that most hospitals wouldn't just do one hoof. I think it was Edinburgh was the only one which would do one hoof and as I remember I think the quote for one was about £800.

NFU should cover full cost of mri - my horse had both fronts done although they only did limited evaluation in one and the bill was just shy of £900

The NFU will pay 100% of the cost of the MRI. Had one done 18months ago at O'Gormans (Newbury) it cost about £1,000
