So have finally decided on getting a small 3.5T box for my one horse. However, I'm looking at my budget and what my income will be when I get it and wanted to do some sums. Obviously I realise that there may well be unexpected costs and money will be set aside should they arise but on a typical monthly basis I wondered what the following was likely to cost:

Insurance (I will be 23 by the time I get the box, will have 2 years NCB but only if I insure with CIS, and will have held a licence for 5 years without points etc. I would be looking to get a pre 1996 box due to budget (£6-7K max if box needed no work doing to it but most likely £4K - yes I have seen the sort of thing I want at this price), possibly older!)

Tax

MOT (and annual servicing)

And anything else you can think of really!

Thankies in advance

well ther tax for our lt35 was £99 for 6mths and the test was £45 you dont have to take them to vosa for the test either,
and the insurance cost me £270 I think but that includes breakdown with Anthony Evans, ours is a 2.5l diesel and it goes for miles on £20.00 !

Good luck in your search,

I have an x reg renault master 2.8 3.5t im 21 and the insurance was about £350, tax is £99 for 6months, diesel lasts ages! and testing is around £45

We budget for average of £1K per year to keep a box on the road -3.5 or 7.5
As above, allow £500 for tax, inx, breakdonw and MOT
Allow a couleof hundred for servicing
Then allow for any parts- tyres, exhausts, battery, spares etc.
