What are you paying (per bale) for shavings at the moment? Large bales, good quality like Snowflake or Thoroughbred please. I can store lots (so what would expect to be charged for 50, say?) Thanks

£5.60 per bale. I do get free one's from my dads mate's furniture factory, which are ideal for the matting but wouldn't use them on a full bed. So it's very rare i have to but any

£5.50 per bale...'Natural Flake' made by a local company. They're dust extracted & the shavings are large. The bed stays really nice & is easy to mucjk out. If I bought in bulk I could probably get a bdiscount but hqaven't sudfficient storage for shavings aswell as Hay.

I am paying £6.75 a bale, but i am moving yards soon, so will be buying it direct myself then, as opposed to off the yard owner, so i should hope i can get it cheaper,as i will be buying it more than 2 at a time. The stuff i get is nothing special just plain shavings,no brand name or anything.

I pay £5.70 for a large bale of Four Seasons or Hunter, and I get through a bale a week. I have to buy it from a local feed merchants though and it can be a pain trying to squeeze the bales into my poor old Peugeot 106! Must treat myself to a brand new Discovery!

I was paying £5.90 a bale - got so fed up with the quality - they were dusty and some of them had big bits of wood in them

Have changed to Bliss (rape straw) it smells of eucalyptus (even after days) is cheaper AND it's easier to muck out

£1.25 per bale or free - depends if I bag them myself! Yes I go to a saw mill and tbh, the few times in the last year when I have had to buy proper shavings, I haven't liked them AT ALL!!!! Much prefer them straight from the Mill - though I appreciate that if your horse has a breathing problem, they are not the best. But if that was the case for me, I'd use paper on rubber mats!
