As a matter of interest what are you now paying for sugarbeet - mollased sort?

Today I bought a 20kg bag and it cost $37.30, thats approx £18.65 for 45lbs. I remember sugarbeet being exceedingly cheap - we've only had it here in NZ for about 15yrs.

Haven't bought molassed beet for a while (few months) but the last bag was around £5 for 25 kg. I have seen it up to about £7.50 for the same in other stores. Here, the pellets are usually slightly cheaper than shreds. Unmolassed beet is more expensive, about £9-10 for 20kg. Is beet actually grown in NZ (can't see why not!) -yours sounds very expensive to me.

We buy it by the 10 ton loads it used to cost £85 ton will probably have to pay £200 ton this year. Here in England the price is dictated by the cost of other products but also not helped this year by an expected shortage. So THEY say.

The main cost of sugar from beet production is transport to factory and factory costs, for this reason in the UK all the SB is grown round the factory, and has "evolved organically", if you are in a non SB country the costs of transport would be high, there are other feeds available, tbh, in the UK, we use SB because it is a cheap source of fibre, and palatable when molassed.
The Speedy Beet is micronised [cooked] and is 30% more expensive than molassedSB nuts, which have to be soaked 24 hours, and contain more sugars less nutrients.

I pay AU$38 for 20kg of speedibeet, and thats the cheapest I've managed to find.
I reckon it s a really good feed though, and it lasts me ages.
Kx

We don't grow it in the Southern hemisphere because Australia grows sugar cane. It seems to be grown only in the Northern Hemisphere and Dunstan are the only people who seem to import it.

Wow! Thats a lot to pay for unmollased beet - especially as it comes to Australia to be bagged and then to NZ - I guess we pay because it has to be imported. It's a brillient feed.
