If sole load reckon on 1 pound a mile for a one way trip. If shared load (recommend Eric gillies esp as they have large stabling if needed en route and they travel all sorts) then it might be 50-60p per mile.
Have you got the option of hiring a box/trailer and driving it yourself/asking someone very nicely if they'll do it for you? I was looking at transport hire in yorkshire the other week and found a couple of places where you can hire a trailer for £50/day or a 3.5 tonne lorry (can drive it on a car licence, over 25 for this place but I don't know if others are lower or how old you are!) was £100 plus fuel.
having done the trip 5 yrs ago and its just over 750 mile round trip I really dont wish to do it again and at present lorry is off the road. It would probably be cheaper by transporter.
what you up to missus
gillies used to always be £250 & vat though I think it will have gone up now . We've used Gavin Jamieson last few times and he was reasonably priced
I paid the equivalent of £1 per mile with Eric Gillies eighteen months ago, and that was cheaper than the only other company that bothered to get back to me with a quote! Excellent service as well.
