Those of you who have 3.5t lorries, I'm wondering if you could give me an idea of costs...insurance, breakdown cover, tax, MOT etc... An idea of what it costs per year/month would be very useful.

I am trying to persuade OH that Murphy and I need a set of wheels (admittedly, they would have to be aging, slightly clapped out old wheels to be in budget...).

Thank you :)

I've literally just got mine, so can't give you any idea of yearly costs, but I've just insured it for £350 quid (I'm 22) fully comp with one named driver, which is stupidly cheap as my car is more expensive than that!!
In terms of breakdown, I'll be using OHTO, which I think is about £125 quid, but most of the insurance places offer breakdown with it!
No idea about tax, but I can let you know when I've picked mine up this evening :)
Good Luck in persuading him, its so exciting when you know you can just go and do whatever you want :)

Tax is £200 a year for my ford transit. I've just spent £165 getting it through it's MOT and £200 on a new battery! Insurance is about £400 with breakdown cover and to fill the tank costs almost £90 (diesel) does about 300 miles on a tank. This is on a new conversion on a 54 plated chassis. Hope that helps!!!
