I need to get my youngster out and about and as he is a little highly strung, and I've decided the best way was to start with the basics rather than straight into to local unaffiliated competitions which I think will just wind him up with all the stressed mothers and teenagers.

Am thinking about taking him to the Cotswold Farm Park fun rides. Are they any good? Are they suitable for a young green horse on one of his first times out? How busy are they and am I better off getting there early or late to miss the rush?

Thanks

last time I went it was really quiet (November) - I would imagine as the weather gets better, it'll be busier - and in the summer it'll be heaving!

Take a quiet companion for him to buddy up with and you'll have fun - it's a lovely place to ride round!

Thanks - am aiming for the March one so I guess it will get quite busy by then. An early start it is then!

I do them throughout the year, we are always on and gone by 10am and we have never found it busy

It is a great place for young horses as the fences vary in size so much. Only negative is that some of the take offs/landings were rather ropey last time I was there (Nov?) and by March they prob won't have been improved, so just be wary
