I just bought a bit from them and it was advertised as a CS but which I believe are like NS bits. 1st time buying from them. I recieved a brass alloy shires bit. No mention of shires in the listing it lists the bit as being a CS one. Am pretty miffed and it I wanted a shires one I would have bought one. Anyone else have this experience?

This is my father's business - sorry if you are disappointed, we often swap manufacturers so don't put who made them on the auctions

However I imagine you bought a £26 brass alloy bit - which is what it says it is

This one is made by us in a different alloy at £54

We have to stock alternatives to stay competitive, and we cannot make them at the same price as bigger manufacturers.

If you are still unhappy, you can return it - as a guide if its in the £35-80 bracket we will have made it, but if its cheaper it will be another brand.

Hi Jen-cots, that's fine I do take your point about the price, and I bought the bit as a trial so to speak. However the listing on eBay nowhere mentions that this is a shires bit. It does not say anywhere that this bit is not made by yourselves. That is my point. The listing is misleading.

Actually dad puts "CS" on all the auctions we list so he can find them (back fires when something is Cob Size...)

I agree the listing doesn't say either way, but we could have easily swapped it for a different manufacturer, if in doubt buy from our website which is clearer and cheaper than eBay or just drop us an email. eBay auctions are a pain to maintain when you have hundreds!

If you want another bit, let me know and I'll get you a discount for being miffed :D

The bit that I ordered from cs was also a shires when it was sent out but tbh I was happy as the shires ones on ebay were going for a lot more money! Although I do think the website should state who the manufacturer is :)

Initially the wrong one was sent out so I messaged that night and got an instant reply (at 9pm!) I sent the bit back and as soon as cs received it they refunded my postage and sent out the right one, brilliant customer service!

I think if a company sells some bits which they make themselves and some they dont then they should state in the advert what make the bit is. Otherwise the only description is their name and people are entitled to assume it is one of theirs.

The customer should not have to 'guess' based on price where the cut off might be.

The ads definitely need to be updated to be clearer. Its obviously not intended to mislead but that doesnt mean it isnt doing it.

Thanks that was my point exactly and more eloquently put. To be fair I did recieve a reply on eBay this morn with an apology etc. it was actually from recommendations on this forum that I heard of CS bits in the 1st place. Will try the shires one anyway and maybe upgrade to a CS or NS bit in future if my mare likes it and it helps with napping. At the moment she is in a sprenger kk eggbutt so no stranger to forking out money for bits ;)
