Hi, Ive heard that you can give human cough mixture to horses ie. benalin. How much do i give and how often?

have heard the same, perhaps your vet could advise? Sure I'm saying the blindingly obv but have you looked into why the horse is coughing? Unlike humans, it is a more serious symptom in horses and suggests damage being done.

I have used Benylin for years. Does seem to help with persistent coughers. And before anyone gets on to me about underlying causes, this is a horse who has been endlessly scoped, blood tested etc. and was told to give it to him by my vet. It is certainly cheaper and seems to work just as well as anything from the vets. I give about 2 tablespoons once a day.
