Quick bit of advice please??

My horse coughed a couple of times on Saturday then was fine for a 1 1/2 hour hack. Yesterday I took him out and he coughed every couple of minutes - obviously just walked him and brought him home. He also had a green snotty nose.

He went out in the field for the afternoon and when he came in he didn't have a snotty nose and I didn't hear him cough at all.

Would you call the vet to see if they'll give him any antibiotics as I'm assuming he's got a virus (goes out competing most weekends) or do you think I should wait and see how he goes on for a day or two (obviously I'll rest him and soak his hay)

Thanks for any advice

Has he got a temperature? Grazing any snot would drain out so may not show. Antibiotics dont work on viruses. Any chance it could be caused by dust in his stable? The list goes on and on.....

Hi, horse at our yard had this with green snot. Owner rested the horse a few days then horse was much better a few days later. The vet looked at horse too when they were up at yard and whatever it was must have just come and gone so it is probably nothing to worry about but if symptoms persist I would call vet.
