Coughing after exercise

As in the title really. Pony came back from exercise this morning having had a couple of canters and started coughing badly and pawing the ground. Offered her a drink (with chill taken off) but she refused. Have left her in at for now as she was still a bit too warm to put out (it's blowing a gale and cold here) going back to see her in an a bit. Another pony which lives out and is in the next field was also coughing this morning......should I be worried??

Sounds like a virus. We had a cough go round some of the horses a couple of years ago. Most were fine, but one needed antibiotics. We also got them swabbed just in case. Does your pony have any nasal sischarge?

No she doesn't, nor does her stable mate. She is just getting to the end of antibiotics for a blocked tear duct (probably no connection though?) This is a really deep chested sounding cough.
