My young horse spent 2 days at vet hospital less than 2 weeks ago. He was scoped for ulcers (3x grade 2 ulcers), ultrasound of hind gut, back X-rays and blood tests showed significant liver inflammation.

Since coming home he has developed a cough, with some yellow mucus occasionally from nose and mouth. Calling vet tomorrow but can this be a complication from scoping? Or is he more likely to have picked up a bug from the hospital?

I would expect some coughing from discomfort but yellow would be more of an infection indicator. Vet will likely advise to either monitor or give some ventipulmin.

I’m hoping nothing bacterial as we are only just managing to get his omeprazole and liver supplement down him, could do without antibiotics as well.
