Has anyone else experienced this?

I've only had this horse for a few weeks, and apart from being spectacularly underweight, he has no other health issues, apart from suspected stomach ulcers, and he does not cough at any other time.

His feed is chaff, cubes, barley rings, with added limestone flour, garlic and oil, all mixed in with sloppy sugar beet to wet it all. His feed is not dusty at all. He seems to take an age to eat so I don't think he's bolting it either...

He is very gradually improving condition, i'm taking photo's weekly to track this, and his coat has certainly improved, his eyes look bright (they were weepy and gunky, he's had a course of anti-biotic ointment), and he is happy in himself. I check his temperature, pulse etc and they are all within the normal parameters.

Help!! :o

Are his teeth ok? so that he is able to chew his feed properly before he swallows it?!

Apart from that, and also adding extra water to the feed so it's nearly a soup like consistency I'm not sure!

Good luck with him though!

my gelidng does this, he just wolfs his food down too fast which is what causes it, its like us when a bit of food 'goes down the wrong way' we cough and splutter

Thank you! He's booked in to have his teeth done later this month... fingers crossed! Though i suppose i should stop worrying as it doesn't seem to bother him... just being a paranoid mum already
