Hi, my 15wk JRT pup has started coughing this morning, i've booked a vet appointment for thursday as quite worried. She is UTD with all the vet recommended, jabs, lungworm and normal wormer...
She sounds like she wants to be sick but nothing comes up, she has drunk water and eaten today.
I've tried to look in her in her mouth to see if she's got anything stuck but can't see anything (she has a go at chewing everything at the moment)
Does anyone know what this could be?
Thanks

She could have irritated/scratched her throat chewing something or could have a small enough item there to cause irritation but not much else.
If she is walked around regular dog routes/has come into contact with other dogs it could be the start of kennel cough.
Good sign thats she is able to eat and drink and is keeping it down.

Sounds like kennel cough, when mine have had it, it sounds more like retching/trying to be sick than actual coughing. That's if it's a mild case (like our last one, only did that for a few days) otherwise they can sound like a honking goose and keep you awake all night!

She does sound like she wants to be sick, she doesn't do it all the time just every 30mins or so, she's only been coughing since this morning. If it is kennel cough will the vet give her a vaccine and tablets?
