One of our horses has been coughing the last couple of days and is a bit dull. The others seem fine, his hay is soaked and it is first class and he is on paper bedding . Are there any viruses about , vet coming Monday as he is due to go to BD winter champs in April and don't want to take any chances

there are lots of colds going around at the moment due to weird weather so it could possible be this have you notice any runny noses

There rae a lot of coughy snotty nose viruses going about, with no associated temperature. Two horses I know had it for 4 weeks before they were better. If snot yellow get vet as will need checked out for a bacterial infection.

Mines got a snotty nose and a bit of a cough at the moment. Nothing too major but im definatly keeping an eye on it. I

t only seems to happen in the moring as well.

Bertie is off colour. He wouldnt eat his breakfast yesterday and has a bit of a snotty nose and is quite quiet.
Im hoping he will pick up again soon. I think the change in weather isnt helping matters. He was changing his coat not a week ago, now he will be clinging onto it with dear life after this weeks cold snap

My boy was a little under the weather last week, we think a new horse on the yard brought something on and as he's only a baby he's been more suceptible. Temp. was normal and he wasn't off his food, just quieter than normal. Gave him steamed hay, echinachea tablets in his food (8 per day for three days, then reduced to 4 per day til the pot was finished) plus a couple of syringes of cough medicine. His snotty nose has cleared and he hasn't coughed since. There seems to be a lot of it around at the moment, good luck at the winters
