My old bitch has developed a cough, it sounds dry. Have spoken to my friend, who is a vet nurse and she has advised me to worm her with panacur incase its lung worm. Have done that today and will need to wait for a week to see if it cures it. Anyone else have any ideas?
She seems ok, bit quiet but she is gettin on a bit, 13 I think. Dobe x GSD.

It can be a sign of heart disease. Our old dog aged 15 has been coughing for several years, and was diagnosed with heart failure last year. he coughed mainly at night and after exertion. It didn't need treatment at the time but went on medication about 3 months ago and doing okay

Shes never been in kennels, so hadn't thought about that. Shes already incontinent, has been for 3 yrs. I'm going to take her to the vets tomo, as its bugging me and can't be very nice for her. Poor old bird, she's getting on now and doesn't like Paddy bumping into her all the time, he seems to be on springs!!
She still trots off and picks her ball up to be thrown, just looks tired quicker, bless her.

Kennel cough is contagious so she could have picked it up from another dog.
I would see if they can scan her bladder or take urine/blood test if you are going anyway.
Hope it's nothing serious.

Have had a look down her throat again, and can see a sore bit at the back. She does have bones and I'm wondering if shes done something with a bone? She's still eating and would chase the ball if I threw it but I am leaving her be. Will deff be at the vets tomo, asap to see whats going on.

Cooked bones or raw?

I'll never find better than my friend's dog - scoped throat, nothing.
There was a big long shard of spiky grass wodged up his nostril (he'd sort of 'fallen' on it while hunting small furries) and every time he moved in a certain way it would poke the back of his throat! Took them a couple of weeks to get to the bottom of it!

The ones you buy from the feed stores, cooked leg bones, they stink.
She has them all the time.
I think they r cooked??? They have the marrow in the middle.
They find ways of doing odd things to themselves don't they??

Took my bitch to vets, has high temp, 44, so antibiotics and anti inflams. They looked down her throat but didn't seem concerned re red area. I'm not convinced! She is still distressed now, and raspy panting. Not eating now either!!!
If shes no better by the morning shes going back, I'm not keen on young vets as they seem to diagnose wrong at our vets. Lost my GSD as he was thought to have urine infection, turned out to be riddled with cancer. I know its diff but I have no faith now.
