Hi All

My horse keeps coughing, now he has done this since i got him in June, but this week ive noticed it getting worse, he has been living out since the end of June 24 hours, I have just brought him in, so he is out during the day and in at night. He is worse when being ridding, not so bad when being lunged. He is fed alfa a chaf, pony nuts, sugarbeet, farriers formula, garlic granules apples and carrots.

He passed a 5 stage vetting and the vet passed him with flying colours, he has lost alot of weight since I got him as he was too fat and had really bad worms.

He gets exercised 6 days a week, he is on hay, shavings with rubber matting.

I will start to soak his hay from tomorrow and see if this makes a difference, there is no discharge either

Any suggestions??

When he used to do it before this week it was almost like he was clearing his throat. All the horses I have loaned have done this so thought nothing of it.

No mucus or running nose, he is a bright as ever and very lively, cheeky etc

The only thing that has changed is I have started to give him garlic grans, so im going to take him back of this and soak his hay and see if this changes over the next few days, if not I will get the vet out.
