Ok, so here's our tale.
My mare is 4yr old 16hh tb x
She was broken in October 2012 on returning home she had a slight cough. It cleared within a few days. In January she went back to the trainer for 2 weeks whilst I was on holiday and returned home again with a cough. His stables are old, dusty/bit of mould here and there, and used sawdust bedding.
A fortnight ago I got the vet out, temperature was normal, I had checked it a few times and the vet did it. They said there was a slight wheeze on left lung. They gave a weeks worth of antibiotics and said see how she goes. After 4 days she's stopped coughing, so makes me think its an infection. I finished the antibiotics at 7 days then 3 days after finishing them the coughing starts again. Vet has now recommended a 20 day course. As she said with respiratory infections a week isn't enough. Or would you get her endoscoped? The trainer once made a comment he thought she was a "sickly" horse as she tires very quickly. Any experiences or advice would be great
I haven't been riding her since the cough, would you ride her or not? She is eating and drinking normally. At home she's in dust attracted shavings and has Haylage
Just want her well soon
