My horse has got a cough when he's being ridden and sounds a bit wheezy after a canter, it happened at exactly the same time last year.

I think it might be due to the fact that the field next door has been cut for straw and there's dust etc flying around (my horse is a head shaker and has to wear a net when ridden), or farmer thinks it might be fungal spores on the grass at the moment. When you walk through the field you get a brownish red dust on you.

So has anyone else come across problems with either of these ????

I'm giving him some "Propel" to try and help him out, but I'm not sure whether I should try moving fields, but this will cause problems and probably arguments at the yard.

We have a horse at our yard with a dust/pollen allergy, we find a fly mask one size too big a full face one with the bit that goes on the nose usually helps him, and an anti histimine (sp!) sometimes helps
