Inky and Ty have a cough and a slight cold/ snots. They have had the vet and been on a course of antibiotics and ventipulmin which has made no difference. Ive rang back the vet to the point he is considering obtaining a restraining order against me

and each time he just says i need to bide my time and they will be ok.

I hate listening to my babies coughing and wondered whether anyone knows of any remidies i may try to either get rid of the cough or at least ease it for them??? Any other ideas to help them get through this???

NAF do cough stuff that you can put in their feed, you can also get stuff that looks like treacle (comes in a little white tub and I can't remember the name!) and does a good job - again it goes in their feed.

Hope they're better soon

Don't laugh but have you thought steam inhilation? I put a drop of eucalyptus oil in a bucket with about 3 inches of boiling water and then tuck a tea towel over the noseband of his headcollar and then hold the bucket up to his nose and pull the free end of the tea towel over the edge of the bucket and let them inhale the fumes - I have used this method a couple of times and found that they really enjoy it and is particularly good for snotty noses - really clears the tubes! (use olbas oil if you can't get eucapyptus)

i would try boosting there systems and but them on a cough syrup there is many around but i found that equimins air power cough syrup worked a treat!

I just bought a Horselyx Respiratory, more as a boredom breaker than anything. Chose that particular type as my mare gets RAO, and she loved it. I stood there watching her for a bit and the smell was amazing - and actually felt my own nose clearing! It has menthol, eucalyptus and aniseed. Prob won't be as good as steaming, but it can't hurt?
