Hello, wondering if anybody thats a bit more 'in the know' than myself could help me decide what the best transport option for me and blonde pony would be!

3.5 ton.. like the idea of being able to drive this on my license straight away, but unsure if its a good choice financially as i would only be using it a few times a month.
4x4 with trailer.. im 26 soon so i would need to take a test before i can tow?
How much does this test cost?

Any general thoughts on running costs for each option with insurance etc greatly appreciated!

Also will add that concidering a Freelander 2 as a general car to own regardless of trailer/lorry decision :)

Hi

I opened a thread on this not so long ago which is here - http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=528001

Worked out to have a 3.5t and car rather than 4x4 and trailer, might work out differently if your intending to always use a Freelander.

If it helps I've sold my Isuzu trooper to change for a saxo and lorry. I will save approx £2000 in fuel costs each year based on using the lorry every weekend, commuting in a small car Vs just commuting in 4X4 never towing!!
