Could anyone post me a picture of a good barefoot front hoof please...

Oberon will be along in a minute with one out of her extensive library, but when you see it please remember that the horse can only grow a perfect foot on a perfect body.

I could show you pictures of feet that look far from perfect, but are rock crunching and that's what really matters.

This is the hind foot of one of our horses... I think it's pretty good :)

I think this is actually quite a difficult thing to do! How do you define good? Textbook looking or just fully functioning? Do they need to be both?

Heres one of my boys... He's was a 'typical' TB with flat feet, this soles, no heels etc...

His foot is not perfect in that pic but he was, and is still now, sound whilst in full work on a variety of surfaces and venues.

I can show you a pic of my other boy who has the oddest feet you'll see, but again is sound and in work.

Thats great thanks.

What I meant by "good" is one that isn't work in progress, as I wanted to compare them against my horses fronts that I had a look at last night!

Gotcha! :)

By the very nature of the hoof they are always changing but certainly the pic of my boys shows a hoof that had been barefoot for 8/9 months and was a completly 'new' growth, he had also been hacking, schooling, xc and jumping on them and had been encouraged to self trim and grow what he needed. This hoof still looks like this now - just covered in mud!

If you're interested look in my pb folder you can see the evolution of his feet to get to that point..

:D:D:D

I guess it's better than having extensive porn on my laptop :D

You have the iconic 'wild Mustang' picture. This is the image of a hard working and natural hoof. It's important to note that our domestic UK horses rarely have hooves like this though.

This is a collection of healthy, domestic, UK hooves

This is a healthy domestic sole shot. Look how well developed and muscular the frog is.
