Pony is a 23 year old Connie in very light work. Today when I mucked out I noticed that his wee smelt very strong and wasn't his usual wee kind of smell. Sitting here scratching my head and wonder if I am feeding him too much protein?

He has recently been turned out into a small, rested paddock.

He is fed twice daily:
1/2 small coffee mug of micronised linseed
175g of balancer
Double handful of Hi Fi
Handful of speedibeet

A section of good hay and a section of high fibre haylage overnight.

He seems well in himself and visually I have no cause for concern.

Any advice would be great. Thank you.

More likely that he is not drinking as much as usual, the grass is very wet, one of mine recently became fairly dehydrated and his urine was very dark, solved by giving him salt in feed and a bucket of water with some beet in it, he drank a lot once he started almost as if he really needed it but had forgotten to do so.

Linseed is high quality protein another of mine seems to find it too much but it was his legs filling that showed there was a problem, once I stopped feeding it his legs went down.

Thank you be positive. Yes he isn't drinking as much but have noticed he is also weeing less. I haven't noticed any filling in his legs but will have a good look at him in the morning. My visit was rushed this morning as my Daughter isn't very well.

Thanks for the advice.
