Hello New Lounge peeps!
Bit of a question for you... I have a perfectly sound horse (ex-eventer) who due to a back injury 1.5 years ago should no longer jump. Are there really people out there who just want a horse to hack and pootle about on? She has a dressage talent for the right rider, and was working at Novice level very nicely right before her accident.
Other thing is that she is 17hh... would this put most buyers off?
Trying to weigh up my options, OH and I are saving for wedding/next house so keeping her as a companion is suddenly looking rather expencive!
Any opinions welcome, thanks in advance!

good luck finding a home.

just been nosey what was the accident ?

Thanks for your thoughts guinness_, gives me some hope!

Accident was a loop-de-loop in a field on a windy day which damaged her lumbar region. Vets think the injury could have happened before I bought her, and the field incident just excasserbated it... but it's one of those things you'll never get to the bottom of!

I would say there are quite alot of riders who are just happy to hack and school ( Myself included !

)

Not everyone wants to jump ( I personally wont go over anything other than a tiny cross pole :P )

She would probably go a little cheaper than other horses her age because of her injury , obviously but thats not to say you wont find a great home for her

im sure there somebody out there looking for a horse like yours...not every rider wants to compete at a high level and is quite happy to hack around and take it easy...i hope you find someone who will take your horse on and have fun with her
good luck, it may just take time to find the perfect home

yes, my mum would love something like that to hack and pdoodle around on. someone out there will be the perfect match if ur planing on selling.

Hopefully the farmer she tries to sue will be insured with the NFU, cause they have excellent lawyers and I don't think she will get very far.

I know lots of people who own horses like yours and are very happy not to jump.

Thanks guys, you have given me faith! I shall just keep fittening her for a couple of weeks and then put some adverts up. Thanks so much! xx

I think there will be many people willing to take your girl on, especially those who have competed to a decent level in the past themselves and want something that's seen a bit of life and has a spark about them.

I took on an ex-eventer who could no longer jump because of a neck injury and have had 9 brilliant years with him - he's now 22 and still an absolute joy to own and ride. When his time eventually comes I will look to do the same again.

I hope you find someone super for her.
