poppy has a standard saxon turnout rug its 5"6, do you think i could get away with chucking it in the washing machine on a cold cycle just to get the wee dirty bits off, its not very dirty at all would just like it to be completely clean for winter??

I tried this with one of mine...and my washing machine went to heaven. The other problem is that normal detergent will strip it of its waterproofing (and even if you use Rugwash there is some detergent stuck in your machine).
I go for the lazier, professional wash at £8.50 (or you could pressure hose it with just plain water, which works really well),
Happy washing.

lol attempted that but made the mistake of using some washin up liquid now i can't get it out, lol should of put this in first could i just put it on a rinse cycle to get all the soap out???

The soap will take all the waterproof off, even if you rinse it off....I suppose you have to do something with it now!
Have you got a muckbucket/dustbin or bath you could soak it in (and stir it with a broomhandle or leg)?

I wash my weatherbeeta lite in the wasing mashine, it's only a rain sheet the thicker ones wouldn't fit. I use rug wash inside and put reproofer in the fabric softener draw, works a treat! On a 40 deg wash too. oo, just remeber to cover the metal bit else you'll scratch your machine, i tape them up with insulating tape. (don't tell my mom though!)

I wash my small thin ones in the machine with rug wash and reproofer. The big ones wont fit but when this machine goes to heaven I will be looking for a bigger one.

I squoze a stable rug into mine once and spent the whole cycle sat on the floor with my back against the door as it was moving and looked like it was going to burst open!

Didint come out any cleaner either and was a bugger to dry.
Someone I know washes her rugs in the bath and drys them on the banister but they must drip all over as I soaked the kitchen just getting my rug from the washer to the back door and it had had a spin too. Washer bounced all over the place.

Did mine with a Karcher (sp) on a nice hot day... came up a treat....

Have also done lite ones in a washing machine and as long as the water can circulate they come out brill. Use the rugwash and only reproofer if they leaked before they were washed.
