Hi everyone.
I posted the other day regarding my ems pony.
Thursday my pony went lame. I spoken to the vet who prescribed bute & metformin (as he had only diagnosed with ems last month & trying to control it with diet & weight loss) thinking it could be another bout of laminitis. He normally comes sound within a week on bute if it is a laminitis bout.
Anyway he went lame Thursday morning. Put him on box rest with the bute. He is now very reluctant to put any weight on the lame foot. He doesn’t have any heat in his foot. I can’t feel any pulses but when I go to pick his foot up he pulls away like it hurts.
I am now thinking could it be an abscess? Or could anyone give me some advice if I’m thinking right or wrong or do I need to just calm down & let the bute work? Has anyone had an experience of not having any heat or pulse but pony on 3 legs.
Previously when he has gone lame farrier has recommended to our some padding under his foot & wrapped with vet wrap. I have been doing this for him since Thursday.
He hasn’t been on any grass since September & I haven’t changed anything in his diet.
Thank you in advance
