went to bring horse out of field today and he is lame cant distinguish which leg as he is reluctant to trot, seems bright enough in himself eyes good ears forward and munching his hay, have called the blacksmith as the first port of call. Are there any specific symptoms I should be looking for incase blacksmith does not turn up today (highly likely)

Absess is often particularely pronunced in one foot with pointing toe. You would certainly be able to tell which leg. Have to say if concerned my first port of call would be vet unless previous foot history.

have not had any previous feet problems but alot of the horses on our yard have recently had abscesses, yard owner seems to think it is due to the dry weather conditions hard ground and then all the rain etc. Cant think what else it could be he was sound yesterday when he went for a light hack he was rested saturday and he jumped on friday but in an arena.

do you think laminitis ? never had it before
