As the girl who shares Beau has an old shoulder injury I have let her ride him in the 3 ring snaffle - but not on anything more than the 2nd hole as I know he can over bend in it and he will start to evade the contact. Well last night I was in a rush and didn't have time to change it to the main ring. He was so different though, his canter felt more together and I actually managed to sit to it! Also his trot was less trampoline like - although not 100% sure thats good, but I just hate bouncy horses!
Also my back was not as tense - possibly as I did not have to fight with him for control. I am not not sure if I should keep using that bit on him or not, as he can really over bend and some times its like he is teaching himself Rollcur!! But he id definitely lighter in the front end.
Another girl had a shot on him in that bit the other day and he was doing his dressage ponio impressions, all ponsy and doing good lateral work and shoulder ins etc - just a shame its not a dressage legal bit!

The only other changes are Hilly field (so back end working more when out), Mobility supplement - but only since sat, and a shavings bed, oh and he gets ridden bareback about twice a week for schooling. But the main change seems to be since we changed the bit back.
He was in a loose ring snaffle before he was changed back. Which one would u say was better?

If you are light in your hands then personally i would continue with the 3 ring but i would try a hanging cheek(Filet Baucher) snaffle as it has a similar action and is dressage legal!
