Ben as some of you know is 17.2 Irish draught cross.
I am just wondering do people think he could event, hes not one of these finer types that whizz around but I think he could do the lower level courses.
He can jump 4ft plus courses sj/xc and is good enough to do a decent dressage, I just wonder if he would be laughed at as hes so big? He isnt the fastest but has a good gallop in him? Any ideas?

I really would like to try him at some of it but not interested in the high level stuff Just for a change as showing is kind of boring me now. The fact that it is so hit and miss if the judge likes your horse and things but I Get a real adrenaline rush jumping. And I really enjoy dressage so maybe thinking it would be better to have a try?

Am I mad or is it do able?

I've seen an 18.2 affiliated eventing, now thats big!!
You wouldnt look at all out of place on a 17.2, go have fun

Go for it!!! My mums horse isn't big (16.1) but is a very chunky legged chap, the judges loved him!! He always got better marks than we thought he would and so your chap won't be laughed at at all!

As for XC, mums horse pretends he can't canter up a field at home because he's a lazy bones but he is always well inside the time PN.

Don't think that just because your horse isn't the typical eventer "type" then he can't do well!

Good luck!!

Oh thats nice to know he seems like he doesnt go anywhere sometimes but I look back and see everyone for dust, I think its the fact he is so big he doesnt seem that quick but he moves himself anyway.

He is a bit chunky but hes not one of these that couldnt do it, he been hunting and the lark. He doesnt look like a typical eventer but I think he could do it, Is very off your leg and willing to jump.

He'd definitely be able for it, and you wouldn't be out of place at all! Go to a few RC ODE's to get a feel for everything, and if you really enjoy it try out a BE intro or two and progress up the levels if you really enjoy it

This chap was doing the CCI** at Tattersalls earlier this year, he looked a good bit chunkier than all the other horses but he was a lovely mover.

That is what I wanted to do first, There is one in september at local rc so goin to do that, And going to do the hunter trials to get a feel for him across country.
Oh and want to take him on a farm ride at somerford park with the use of the xc jumps for fun.

I am just a bit bored of showing now, well not bored but I like something that gets my adrenaline going. And ben loves to jump and could easily pull of a dressage test.

Oh thanks for that piece of mind. I dont think ben would be doing anything like Ren but we can have a go
