could my tb mare be loosing her winter coat already???

My mare is very itchy has been treated for lice/mites etc but is now only itchy on her flanks and top of her rump, and now she has bald patches. but i recall her coat being simular to this last year when she was losing her coat but she wasnt as itchy?

My connemara has started losing his coat already! He normally keeps it till at least March.

she is quite bizarre, you would think been a lean tb she would be cold but she is always really warm, could it be the mild weather????

I noticed mine with loose hairs yesterday,she started moulting in january last yr too.i hope she clings on a bit longer though with the cold snap about to come.

Losing their coat has very little to do with heat, and alot to do with light. It has started to get lighter in the mornings and evenings now- and the side issue it is unseasonably warm- so they will be readying to lose their coats!

Well im clipping her out full the weekend (she already has a blanket clip) as she has a skin condition and need to bath her in some shampoo the vet has given me but was just curious.

My Arab & my Standardbred are both shedding their coats, i couldnt believe my eyes when i got covered in a shower of white hair yesterday! Hope winter doesnt suddenly kick in.
