very odd question but i want to take grace to a show on saturday as her first outing and she moves amazingly but they dont have any classes for her to do, not even in hand classes. the only one she could potentially do is large breeds open ridden (dales, fell, highland, new forest, connemara, welsh C and D) or mountain and morland novice ridden. she isnt a m&m this is only a little local show. could she pass for a m&m. she has a huge tail. thick mane, i did cut her feather off but nothing else is touched and she has a dish to her face! i think she is crossed with something but her parentage isnt tested so im not 100% on her breeding. ta muchly
this photo is about 1 month old, her feathers have gone since then. this doesnt show the dish in her face

ps she about 15.1. im not going out to win, just experience for her, she has never been anywhere before so she could dump me the minute i get on her for all i know!

She looks just like a slightly bigger version of my gelding Harry, who is pure bred New Forest. She wouldn't pass as NF, as she's too tall, but you might get away with Sec D.

As a matter of interest, why did you cut off her feathers?

they were abit stragly and pathetic , im abit anal with triming and just think it looks smarter. but her mane and tale are wild!! she wont let me pull her mane and its like and exmoors mane!! but as iv decided to show her i am letting them grow. she is quiet and extravagent mover so i think il be keeping her to try showing her.

Umm she doesn't look anything like a welsh d but i do have 2 of them so easy for me to see the difference! She looks like she is a cob x maybe? If it's just for an outing then yep go,shame you cut her feathers off as she would of looked a bit more 'native' that way. Very nice horsey though

Depends on the show. Some will insist on the passport/breeding papers. I would say at 15.1 she's too big to be M&M. Also, if she has an obvious dish to her face you won't get away with section D I wouldn't have thought. Can you not do best turned out or something instead? Or riding club horse?

its a very small local show. the judge would probably ask me what breed she is but that would be it. dont know what answer i would give though. there isnt even a best turned out class, its a very poor schedule this year. there is a working hunter over 13.2 rider any age. would that involve jumping? it doesnt specify there are jumps.

do you reckon she could go in mountin and moorland novice ridden? it doesnt specify the breeds. ahh might have to scratch that, at the bottom it says all ponys to be registered with the M&M breed society. tbh its such a small show that is on every year, i have never know them to look at passports etc even when i used to show my newforest.
eta- if she doesnt go the dog will :D

shes never jumped so would be abit of an ask of her.
the schedule has large breeds in hand and ridden which specifies the breed.
then there is mountain and moorland novice ridden with no breeds specified which indicates to me that its any m&m breed. think i might just pass on this and look out for another one with more classes and just take the mutly instead!

I think you would have a very confused judge if you took her ;)

Frank is being threatened with the M+M pony racing... we WOULD lose ;) :D

I'm not sure you would get away as a D. Is there a part bred class or an unregistered M&M class. She would look nice plaited is there a hunter or riding horse class she would look more at home in one of those. She is a very nice horse though.

It seems to have weird classes!

its aimed at the youngsters and novices mostly. there isnt many classes at all, its just a little annual show. i think il find something else for her to do before the end of the season. so what classes should i be looking to do with her.

shes pretty, what breeding is she? i do abit of showing with a m+m so might be able to help x

shes registered with the sports horse breeding society but her parentage is untested. apparantly she is tb x ish but i think there is some cob in there somewhere that gives her a dished face and her extravagent hind legs.

is there not anything like turn out, novice ridden or riding horse? i wouldnt think she would do very well in m+m if she isnt pure bred m+m. any working hunter class will involve a few jumps. the family pony would be one she could do as thats normal novice horses/ponies but that usually involes doing a jump (usually a small cross pole). are there any other shows you could take her too? if not take her just to ride round for a day out :) x

nope none of those classes. its a very basic show. it was just so she could go out for the day, shes never been to a show before but i didnt really want to go just to stand and watch with her i wanted her to go in a ring. its only a couple of miles away so its no big deal was just a nice small but busy show to introduce her to. i would hope she would make county level if she is sensible enough.
this was her second proper schooling session since coming back into work and realising she wasnt going to buck her way out of the arena!

lol, yup I needed to get on back home anyway.

He was really good as haven't let him SJ properly for ages, really non fillery for a change :) would have won the 80 if registered.. but not sure where everyone else went as def didnt go for it! had a run out at 2 in the BN... not sure why think I didn't commit and it wasn't a naughty stop in the vid it just looks like he paniced a bit at the last minute. He was a bit tired as not really jumping fit atm cos of the ground so we just pootled round after that :D
