Could someone put my mind at ease 🥺

I'll start by saying I'm ringing my vets on Monday.

I've noticed a few days ago a little bald patch on my 18 month old JR terrier's nose. I didn't think much of it at first but it's raised and looks darker than his normal pink healthy skin.

I'm worried it could be the start of something nasty like a tumor he's my absolute baby and I'm scared half to death.

Try not to worry because your dog will pick up on that. You have a plan to contact your vet, so concentrate on that for now. It is probably nothing sinister but always best to get things checked out.

Try not to worry but easier said than done! Mine was at the vets Thursday as had large solid lump. I was a wreck. Having lost so much recently couldn't cope. By the time I'd got home he rang to say they had aspirated it and it wasn't cancer. Then a call to say it was a fatty lump but in muscle. All removed and she is currently sulking and giving me evil eyes because on crate rest. Hopefully you'll be reassured on Monday x

It’s very unlikely to be sinister on such a young dog. Does he tend to dig in his bed or paw his nose a bit? My old staffy had a very similar bump on her toe one time, vet looked and asked if she had been licking her paw and I said yes, he said stop her doing that. It went away rapidly.

It looks rather like a histiocytoma which is a non cancerous growth. They spontaneously disappear, and are normally found in young dogs. They are nothing to worry about but do tend to look “manky” before they disappear. however please do get your vet to advise

That’s what it looks like to me too - my dachshund had one at a very similar age although on her back. It disappeared as swiftly as it arrived in about a month or two after some scabby phases.

The advice is very much to see a vet to confirm it’s not anything more sinister.
